About Bealsfeen
An independent index of eleven hotels, written as prose and cross-referenced twice.
Bealsfeen is a small editorial project with a narrow remit: to describe a limited number of hotels accurately, group them into four categories that actually mean something, and make every entry easy to find twice over — once through its section, once through the alphabetical index on the home page.
The four categories were chosen because each one changes how a building works. An art hotel is planned around what hangs in it. A capsule hotel is planned around subtraction. A casino hotel has to solve circulation and noise problems that ordinary hotels never face. An ice hotel is rebuilt annually and then melts. Those are structural differences, not marketing ones.
What we do not do
There are no star ratings here, no scores, no guest reviews and no booking engine. We take no commission, because there is nothing to take a commission on. If a description reads as enthusiastic it is because the property is genuinely interesting, not because of an arrangement.
How entries are written
Each entry is prose, deliberately, because a hotel is not a list of attributes. We stick to things that remain true across seasons — what the building is, where it sits, how it is organised, what it asks of a guest — and leave prices, availability and anything else that changes weekly to the hotels themselves.
The ice hotels section
It contains one entry. Purpose-built snow and ice hotels are genuinely rare, and we would rather run a short section than invent properties or stretch the definition to include resorts that happen to own an ice bar. If the section grows, it will be because something real opened.
